Planetary Alignment

A rare planetary alignment takes place in the heavens over Earth on February 28, 2025, when seven planets — Saturn, Mercury, Neptune, Venus, Uranus, Jupiter, and Mars — align.

Four planets (Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, and Mars) will be easily visible to the naked eye during the alighnment. For Uranus and Neptune, a pair of binoculars or a small telescope is required. Saturn will be close to sun and the most difficult to see.

Consequently, catching all seven planets in the sky at once will require diligent timing.

The planetary alignment will be visible almost worldwide through March 4 while the moon is in its darkest phase. Start looking as soon as the Sun sets below the horizon. Some locations will have better viewing conditions as the planets rise higher above the horizon. Tall buildings or high mountains may hide all or part of the alignment from view.
